Dr. Nilam Thakur

Dr. Nilam Thakur Kunwar is a highly accomplished Clinical Geneticist with an MBBS degree from Kathmandu Medical College Teaching Hospital and an MSc in Clinical Genetics from the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka. She has been involved in various training programs, workshops, and conferences around the world. She has been trained in Lukhnow, India, Manchester, UK and NIH, USA. Dr. Thakur currently holds the head position of Medical Genetics Unit, Department of Medicine, National Academy of Medical Sciences, Bir Hospital, and serves as the Laboratory Head at Kathmandu Center for Genomics (KCGRL) and NOVA International Diagnostics, Global Hospital, Gwarko, Lalitpur. She has published research papers on genetics and molecular diagnostics, and her dedication to improving genetic healthcare has positively impacted the medical community in Nepal.

She has an extensive expertise on infertility genetics, genetic counselling and particularly reporting on Pre-implantation Genetic Testing/Screening of embryo biopsy, Karyotyping, NIPT and Amniocentesis. Her expertise on genetic counselling and infertility genetics would be an asset for our IVF center.
